The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, has lashed out at the President of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Festus Osifo, over the recently approved N70,000 transport allowance by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.
In an interview with Channels Television, Ajaero alleged that Osifo is an absentee president of the union.
According to Ajaero, Osifo does not live in Nigeria but in the United States, from where he travels to attend meetings.
"He (Festus Osifo) is an absentee president of the TUC; he doesn't live in Nigeria. He comes in from the United States to attend meetings and rush back," he said.
His comments come amid disagreements between the NLC and TUC over the N70,000 transport allowance.
In a separate interview on Channels Television, Osifo tackled Ajaero, saying that the NLC president cannot negotiate on behalf of the TUC.
Earlier, NLC President Ajaero had criticised the TUC, insisting that the union was not part of the negotiations that led to the approval of the N70,000 transport allowance for workers amid rising fuel prices and demands for a review of the minimum wage.
