The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated his position on the recent Federal High Court Judgement which nullified the recognition of the current governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo-West senatorial district in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during his ongoing media chat in Portharcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, Wike dismissed his involvement in the court judgement, stating that those linking his name are only being mischievous

Though he admitted publicly disagreeing with the Governor of Imo, Hope Uzodinma, over his rainbow coalition initiative, he denied being in the know of ongoing internal political issues in the APC.

Further speaking on his rainbow coalition initiative, Wike posed a question to the Imo State Governor, asking, “What is Uzodimma afraid of?”

“I didn’t go to court; I’m not from APC. People are saying that because a day before that judgement he had openly warned his people there’s no Rainbow Coalition; if I see you I’ll collect the vehicle. So when the judgement came, they said it was me. How could it have been me?

What is Hope Uzodinma afraid of in the Rainbow Coalition?”

He said both priorities should be working to see the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, adding that if there is an initiative to achieve that, “What then is the issue?” he asked.

“Your business is to make sure Mr President wins elections. At the national assembly level, so many factors come in, including zoning. I owe no apologies that Rochas is my friend; after all, he has friends in Rivers State that are my political enemies; will I go and kill them? No!!”

“If he’s a strong man, he shouldn’t be afraid. You’re strong; whatever you see you take!”
